Culture

Culture makes the places where we live distinctive, attractive and prosperous and is close to the hearts and minds of local communities. mksm has, over time, developed a fantastic range of cultural assets, events and activities.
Sports fields, swimming pools, public art, libraries, museums and galleries, theatres, cinemas and places of worship are where communities come together and are what gives an area its sense of place and identity.
As new development takes shape, we can build on this strong platform to create an even more enhanced offer. To do this, it’s critical that these aspects are given due consideration in the planning process.
The booklet ‘Living Spaces’ (PDF File) produced by the mksm Culture Task Group offers local delivery vehicles and councils advice on planning for culture. This offers advice form national and regional agencies on how successful communities can be nurtured and developed to create the places where people really enjoy living.
mksm has a dedicated Cultural Co-ordinator to facilitate and enable the work programme of the mksm Culture Partnership. Contact details can be found on the mksm Executive Team page.
