With over 200,000 new jobs planned for the area by 2021 and a commitment by all partners to the creation of truly sustainable communities, economic development is key. Whist the recent economic conditions have made this more challenging, the mksm partnership remains committed to use its diverse economic assets and sector strengths to maximise its economic growth potential.

Our mksm Economic Development Group brings together our 3 Regional Development Agencies, local authorities, local delivery vehicles, and other key partners to work together to maximise our economic growth potential.

Together, we’ve produced an Economic Development Implementation Plan. This identified the key cross-cutting themes opportunities for economic growth:

• Infrastructure, particularly transport and next generation broadband;
• skills; and
• low carbon live/work area.
