Local Authority Leadership Group

The LA Leadership group is our key forum of Council Leaders (or delegated Councillors) and Chief Executives of all fourteen mksm Local Authorities (County, District and Unitary authorities). The group meets quarterly and acts to pool leadership capacity and collaborate to plan for sustainable growth across mksm.

Role:

• To support overall leadership and democratic accountability for all mksm areas;
• To provide a forum for all Local Authorities in mksm;
• To be responsible for strategic planning of future service provision, identifying barriers, commissioning work and joint lobbying as appropriate (e.g. population growth and revenue issue);
• To provide forum for discussion of Quality of Life issues in the context of major growth across mksm;
• To receive IRB responses / steers, and respond within local government;
• To identify, refine and focus the delivery risks which need to be discussed and/or escalated to IRB via the Executive Board;
• To lead and take decisions regarding the mksm Collaborative Working Agreement.
