Sub Regional Strategy

The mksm Sub Regional Strategy (SRS) set out the original planning framework for the full mksm area. It was published in March 2005, and covers the period from 2001 to 2021.

Since the production of the SRS, Regional Planning Bodies have worked to assemble Regional Spatial Strategies and local authorities have worked to develop Local Development Frameworks covering their areas. Where these have been agreed, these give the latest plans for growth in their areas.

The SRS remains an important reference for these local and regional parts of the planning framework, with many of its policies and principles for sustainable growth carried over into other planning documents.

The Sub Regional Strategy itself comprised of an over-arching strategy and key spatial diagram for the whole of the sub region (Part A) and a set of separate statements providing more specific guidance for all of the growth towns (Part B).
